1. What types of accommodation and meals are available?
You have a choice of host families, apartments, school residence and hotel accommodation the whole year round. At host families and in school residences it is possible to book breakfast, half board. Our apartments are equipped with a kitchen in which you will find the most important utensils and crockery

2. What does half board mean?
If you stay at a host family half-board includes breakfast and lunch or dinner depending on your course schedule and host family. If you stay at a student residence half-board is always breakfast and dinner

3. What is the approximate distance from accommodation to school?
Usually the distance between the accommodation and the school is approx. 10-20 minutes (maximum of 40 minutes) by public transport.

4. When will I learn the exact address of my accommodation?
A soon as we receive the complete amount for the course, we will send you the exact address of your accommodation within two working days.

5. I have an allergy/ I am a vegetarian/ I have special dietary needs. Can you find accommodation for me too?
Please inform us of any allergies and dietary requirements when you register, your needs will then be taken into account when we allocate your accommodation!

6. Will I share my room with another student or can I book a room for myself?
In our carefully selected host families, well-maintained school residences and comfortable apartments you can choose among shared rooms and single rooms. We do our best to satisfy all your wishes concerning accommodation. Should, contrary to expectations, a form of accommodation be fully booked, we will immediately contact you and try to work out a solution which meets your requirements.

7. What does shared room mean?
You share a room with another Nassel student who has come to Germany to learn German. We make every effort to place students of the same age and different nationality together who do not share their mother tongue. Of course, you always share a room with a student of the same sex.

8. What if I do not want to share my room with students of the same nationality?
In the case of accommodation in host families or student apartments, Nassel makes every effort to put students of different nationalities and the same age together.

9. I would like to share accommodation with a particular friend - how can we organize it?
If you would like to stay together with a friend who is also attending a Nassel course, then please let us know when you register. We will make every effort to ensure that you are placed together.

10. Is it possible to organize accommodation for people who are accompanying students and not taking part in the courses?
We would like to recommend that you stay at a hotel or a guesthouse during your German course. Due to the limited number of rooms we are only able to offer accommodation to course participants, but we can find a solution.

11. Is it possible to change accommodation?
Should a student, contrary to expectations, be dissatisfied with the accommodation, this should be communicated to the school office as soon as possible, however no later than three days after arrival. Nassel will then offer an alternative.

12. Is there a washing machine?
Our student residences generally feature laundrettes. Most host families and some student apartments do, too - at cost price. However, as any other metropolis there is a huge number of public laundrettes all over Germany, which is a good occasion for tuning in on local talk.

13. Do I have to bring my own towels and sheets?
Please bring your own towels. Bed linen is provided.

14. What is the difference between student residence and student apartment?
Student residence: You have your own room (single or shared room) in a favourably located student residence with rapid access to the city centre. You can choose between breakfast and half-board . There's a kitchen where your may use the hotplates and refrigerator free of charge - students must provide their own crockery and utensils. Most rooms have shower, WC and telephone.
A student residence is a great place to meet international and German students.
Student apartment: We recommend this type of accommodation if you value your independence. You are accommodated in a well-maintained flat, often shared with other Nassel students, in single or shared rooms with shared bathroom and kitchen. You are responsible for your own meals; the flat contains all usual kitchen utensils and crockery. Most flats are also equipped with their own washing machine and TV.
In a student apartment you will meet other students from all over the world.

15. How many students share an apartment?
Our well looked-after apartments are generally used to accommodate our course students. An average of one to four students are accommodated in any one apartment.

16. Do I have to bring pots and pans?
Kitchens in our student apartments are fully equipped. If you have booked a student residence and intend to do your own cooking, we ask you to bring your own pots and pans.

17. How are host families selected?
We make every effort to ensure that your stay is as pleasant as possible. Accommodation standards are regularly checked by us. We also ask all our students for feedback after their stay. Our landlords are selected with the following criteria in mind:
• Closeness to the school (average of 10-20 minutes, max. 40 minutes) by public transport;
• Size, furnishings and fittings in the flat, bathroom facilities and student's room;
• Access to the family's communal areas;
• Weekly cleaning of the flat and check that everything is OK;
• If breakfast or half board is offered, choice of food at breakfast and a three-course hot lunch or dinner;
• Opportunity to get to know family members and any other tenants.

18. Do the host families have children?
Some of our host families are young and childless, some have children who attend school and some are older couples whose children are already grown up and live elsewhere.

19. It is difficult to get a place with a host family. Why?
We offer about many places with host families throughout the year . Some host families only accept students that book accommodation and board, others prefer female or younger students. We aim at accommodating the wishes of host families and students. It can happen that we do not find a suitable host family for the student due to incompatible preferences. In this case we always offer an alternative, i.e. a student apartment or a residence. That is why we ask our clients to tell us in the registration form which alternative they are willing to accept.
